About the event

This Discourse explores a fundamental idea. We ask, “Why has America earned, increasingly since World War One and until today, a position of primacy in the world? In other words, why is American preeminent? Or, to use the language of Secretary of State Madeleine Albright (1997-2001), why had the United States become the “indispensable nation?” In this Discourse, to be held in Alexandria, we will examine a schema that Matthew Feely presents – if only as food for thought – to explain why America has enjoyed a position of primacy in global affairs. Discourse participants are encouraged to disagree in part or in whole with the presented schema.
